Welcome to VICTORIAN LINES, a celebration of Victorian life by Victorian illustrators and writers – especially the illustrators. Our emphasis is on lesser-known artists and writers, while better known ones are shuffled deep into the pack – we can, after all, see their work in all sorts of places. Big names get a look-in but many of the lines here are by people few have heard of and, as this site grows, these lesser names will continue to be given prominence. They may be less well known, but they all have something to say.
